Maranatha Baptist Academy participates in the Wisconsin Private School Choice Program (WPCP) as a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. This voucher system allows students in the state of Wisconsin to attend a private school of their choice, utilising state funds. Applicants are encouraged to read MBA’s Mission and Doctrinal Statement as well as the Parent and Student Handook prior to beginning the process of voucher and school applications.
For the 2026-2027 school year, there will be three application periods for participants in the WPCP: February 2-20, March 1-20, and April 1-20. Families interested in receiving a voucher are encouraged to apply for the WPCP as early as possible. Families already in the voucher program are required to re-apply for the program each year. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, the random selection process for school vouchers will be handled by the individual school rather than DPI. MBA follows the random selection processes as prescribed by the Department of Public Instruction. For 2026-2027, the number of voucher seats available per grade is: 9th grade: 12 seats; 10th grade: 15 seats; 11th grade: 10; 12th grade: 7 seats.
The random selection process utilised by MBA follows the priorities prescribed by the Department of Public Instruction:
- Prior Year Choice Students at MBA
- Siblings of Prior Year Choice Students at MBA
- Prior Year Choice Students at a Different School
- Siblings of Prior Year Choice Students at a Different School
- Siblings of New Students with Seat at MBA & Other New Students
If MBA receives more eligible Choice applications than Choice seats available for any grade level, MBA will hold a random selection and maintain a waiting list of those not selected. MBA follows a consistent practice for random selection throughout each application period. However, MBA prioritizes categories (listed above) before each enrollment period, which may cause an applicant’s position on the waitlist to change if another applicant who applies during a later enrollment period is in a higher category
Applications for the Choice program are handled through the Department of Public Instruction website. More information on the WPCP program and the application for the WPCP can be located here. A tutorial video for completing the Choice program application may be viewed here.
Once a family applies for a WPCP voucher, MBA will collect necessary forms to verify residency and income. Verification documents (residency and, if applicable, income) are due before the end of the application period (e.g. For February application period, verification documents must be provided to the school by February 20th). To show intent to enroll at MBA, a new or returning voucher applicant also completes the MBA School Application through Sycamore. At the close of the voucher application window, MBA will contact voucher applicants to notify them if a voucher is being offered or if the student will be placed on the voucher waitlist. Those offered a voucher must notify the school within 7 days with their intent to accept the voucher or the voucher will be offered to a waitlisted applicant.
All new students seeking enrollment with MBA complete a placement test through a third-party testing service. The cost for this testing is paid by the family seeking enrollment and is paid prior to the test being administered. Placement testing provides the school and the parents with an indication of the student’s level of preparation for the academic program as well as the likelihood of his or her success at MBA. The applying student and a parent also meet with the school administrator to discuss potential enrollment, answer questions, and determine enrollment eligibility.
Voucher funds provided through the Choice program cover the tuition and instructional-fee costs associated with full-time enrollment in MBA courses at Maranatha Baptist Academy. Athletic fees, music lessons, graduation fees, and miscellaneous costs, such as Fine Arts attire, are not instructional costs and are not covered by the voucher. The true per-student cost of full-time enrollment at MBA exceeds the amount of full-time tuition charged, and additional costs of enrollment are absorbed by Maranatha Baptist University as a ministry service. Voucher funds may not be used to provide for costs associated with dual enrollment, college tuition, or costs associated with such offerings.
MBA reserves the right to deny enrollment to any applicant. Reasons for denying enrollment may include, but are not limited to, indications that the applicant or the family are not philosophically and/or theologically aligned with MBA and/or indications that the applicant is not academically prepared to be successful at MBA.
