Maranatha Academy has fielded a football team since 1977. The Crusaders have won several conference championships, but currently compete in the Great 8, 8-man conference as an independent. Maranatha is currently coached by Ben Flack. Flack is a former assistant coach under Dan Akins (2009-2012). Akins’ father, Rich Akins (1977-2008), founded the program and coached the team for 31 seasons, ending with the 2008 season. The 2014 season has now been completed, with the team earning a very respectful 6-4 record.
